Modal, Viscose & Lyocell (TencelTM)
All cellulose fibers are made from plants, though the actual process varies quite a bit. All fibers made from natural materials undergoing a manufacturing process are typically called Rayon. Viscose, Modal and Lyocell are just the most known and used. They all naturally share the same characteristics, which are softness, moisture-absorption and breathability, and can be used for any kind of clothing.
Caring for cellulose fibers in general requires some finesse, but CHANTY laces made with cellulose fibers have excellent color fastness, which prevents bleeding when washing in a washing machine. We take extremely good care to reach top technical values in laboratory checks even the most difficult color. All our cellulose yarns are sourced in Europe, this helps optimize and ensure production standards and delivery channel.
Viscose, Modal, Lyocell – also called – Rayon. They are man-made fibers made out of plants, so they are also referred to as regenerated cellulose fibers. Not all material called Viscose, Modal or Lyocell are however the same, they can be sourced from different distributors and production plants. Though we at CHANTY are always willing to be flexible and adjust to customer request, we choose to source the versions from Lenzing as a local source. The benefits are clear.
Modal
Modal is made from sustainably sourced beech wood. A naturally soft cellulosic fiber, that is biodegradable and compostable. The Modal fibers are extracted from naturally grown beech wood. The whole process is self sufficient in energy. This fiber makes any fabric that little bit smoother and emphasizes the designs beautifully.
Lyocell (TencelTM)
Lyocell – widely known as TencelTM by Lenzing - is a man-made cellulose fiber made from eucalyptus wood. It offers enhanced strength, durability and moisture absorption. The sourcing process follows the strict guidelines of the Wood and Pulp Policy, to ensure the protection of ancient and endangered forests. The production of this material is based on a closed loop process.
